February 7, 2019 | During Mooji’s time with the National Park Service Air Resources Division, Mooji had the opportunity to work on projects focused on topics she is passionate about. She focused the first half of her term updating and completing a report about winter air quality in Yellowstone National Park. This report analyzes the air quality in Yellowstone National Park from 2011-2017 and has a special emphasis on the impact of over-snow vehicle emissions.
Mooji switched gears during the second half of her term to focus on taking air sample collections in Hawaii. Due to recent volcano eruptions on the Big Island, air samples were taken to analyze how eruptions effect air quality. To conclude her term, Mooji was able to fine tune her presenting skills in front of a large group while she educated them about her project findings. Mooji had a great experience over the course of her term, stating, “I learned that I enjoy this type of work and might want to work at one of the parks in the near future.”
